GIT Cancer

Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer is a term for the group of cancers that affect the Digestive System. This includes cancers of the oesophagus, gallbladder & biliary tract, liver, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, bowel (large intestine or colon and rectum), and anus. GI cancer is the most common form of cancer.

Gastrointestinal cancer refers to malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) and accessory organs of digestion, including the esophagus, stomach, biliary system, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus.

GI cancers do not discriminate between men and women.

The signs and symptoms of GIT cancer can include:

Poor appetite.

Weight loss (without trying)

Abdominal (belly) pain.

Vague discomfort in the abdomen, usually above the navel.

A sense of fullness in the upper abdomen after eating a small meal.

Heartburn or indigestion.


Vomiting, with or without blood.
